29/07/2019

As of Friday (14th July, 2017), Indonesian Department of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) officialy blocked Telegram because “It endangers National Security, as Telegram could not provide SOP to counter terrorism acts.”

“There were many channels that contain radical propaganda, terrorism, hate ideology/ speech, how to make bombs, disturbing images, and many more.” Said Kemenkominfo.

Right now, there are 11 DNS that belong to Telegram that have been blocked, causing Telegram unable to be accessed from Desktop’s web browser (but still accessible in Apps).

“Strange” Said Pavel Durov, founder of Telegram, “We have never received any complaints from Indonesian Government.”
